I'm still at it with Sid Fly and this week we are tackling the political divide in America. Respect people's opinion, and learn to agree to disagree. Also, I welcome all the positive or negative comments you have for this. As I learned last week, not everyone has the ability to be constructive, so save the hate if you can't articulate something to improve on! People talk trash on the internet because they can pretend to be whoever they want, but I find that people who are REALLY working hard at this every week have a more developed vocabulary for giving helpful instruction. https://youtu.be/LFSGTgDa4zE

Hello everyone

I have just introduced myself on the site. I am producing and directing a full featured documentary film about a unique geological formation in my region known as the Table Rocks. They are a flat butte volcanic formation that offers many unique story elements. The title of the film project is "Di'Tani: The Story of the Table Rocks of Southern Oregon".

Hello everyone, lately I've heard so much that FCP is out as a professional editing suite, I still use FCP 7, I've been using FCP since 2005. A colorist and editor friend of mine tells me to switch to the latest FCP X, but lately in different threads here on stage32 I've read that Adobe Premiere is the preferred one (I know AVID is the industry's preferred one), is this true? How did this happen? I used to edit on premiere back in 2000 on a PC and switched to FCP on a Mac because it was supposed to be way better, which I think it is. What do you think?

Hi folks! I have been on Stage 32 for awhile now, but I somehow forgot to introduce myself. I work in Denver, Colorado as a Video Production Manager. My boss is on the coveted Canon Explorer of Light list, and she is perennial on there. I have learned a lot about cinematography from her, but my passion is editing and post-production and that is where I earn my money for her. Our reel is at www.sandypucproductions.com

Sometimes its hard to get a handle on some of the expensive 3D packages like Max, Mayer or Houdini. There is a lot of other cheaper options around but none as cheap as Blender 3D....."Its free!!" I have been an animator for 23 years now, working on productions for Nickelodeon, Disney and the BBC to name a handful. I have used Maya and Max and several others. The problem has always been to keep up with the latest trends. I have, over the years, forked out thousands of dollars in upgrades and new hardware. So I decided to move to open source software for operating systems. I now am using Ubuntu, Gimp, Inkscape, Kdenlive and Blender3D as my main development tools. As I moved from Max and Mayer to Blender I found there was no one place to learn the program easily. I did find there was lots of great one off tutorials, but I had to search for days to find the ones that would build my skills cohesively. Frustrated, I decided I would start a blog to help with my personal progress but also give others a chance to learn from my discoveries.
