I've been going Social-Network-Crazy over the past week attempting to increase awareness for my upcoming film, SO:LO, but what would you recommend? One reason this is so important at this stage (I am currently in Pre-Production) is that I want to start a Kickstarter in the upcoming months, and I need a solid base of people interested in the project before I do so. Any help would be appreciated!

However, if it's your 1st attempt at KS, it's usually likely it won't succeed, depending on the budget and other aspects that could work. Not to say it's impossible of course. Im in the process of Kickstarting my newest project as well. It's definitely all about Social Media promoting, but also join blogs that are relevant to your project, any fundraising events, or any local businesses that may be interested in helping you promote your film at their place. A good way to go may be going to a restuarant and talking with them to see if they can make a deal to give you say 3% of their profits for that evening, and give the customers a special menu that if they order from that, it goes towards the film..suggestions of course! good luck!

Expand commentStart with a really solid script. Until you have that you have your cart before the horse. Then you can find people to work on it because you have an awesome script. Then you make it. I'm assuming you are making a short. kickstarter is not necessary and is more likely a distraction for this project. The only thing you need money for is to feed people during production and possibly some consumable supplies, but maybe not.

Expand postHey guys, I'm a filmmaker in the Philadelphia Area and I just joined Stage32. I love to collaborate with other Filmmakers, and I think this site is a great way to facilitate that! I'm currently working on a Thesis Project called SO:LO that follows a woman who wakes up in a world where time has frozen around her. It's based on a real theory that while people think the universe is accelerating around us, really our perceptions are just skewed because time is actually slowing down, and one day (in the very very distant future) it will just be like the snapshot of one instant, forever.
Welcome to the community, Kiri!
