SYNOPSIS:
The story begins when Laura Simmons, a long-time out-of-work wife is invited to interview for a job that she is unqualified for. Kyle, her husband, cautions her to be suspicious of the opportunity since it seems too good to be true, but Laura's desire to get back to work trumps any rational thinking. Laura begins the interview process with high hopes that the employment agency will pass her onto their client for the final step of the process. She has no inkling that all the employees of the employment agency are antagonistic with each other. The founder's son who is in charge of the enterprise is at the heart of their discontent. The interview is unexpectedly interrupted when Gil Jackson, a recently fired employee and former combat military soldier, finds a way to take control of the agency's office. He takes everyone hostage and threatens to ignite dynamite that would kill everyone unless he receives justice for his perceived ill treatment by the founder's son. He wants to get even and intends to have the founder's son pay for it. Tempers flare and shouts are tossed against one another as a way to deal with the distress. During the turmoil, an employee is shot and Laura suffers a diabetic attack. Gil slowly loses control of the situation as he begins to rethink what he's got himself into. He wants it all to go away and be with his wife and ill child once again. The tense and fluid situation escalates when the employees realize that in order to overwhelm Gil they must pull together and put aside their differences if they are to survive. In the end, Laura and the diverse group of employees devise a plan to overcome Gil. There is a final standoff between Gil and an employee where Gil is wounded, and finally taken away by the police. In the end, the founder's son has an unexpected eye-opener of who he's become and doesn't like it one bit. He pledges compassion to the employees, decides not to press charges against Gil, and rehires the fired employee. Laura chooses to withdraw from being further considered for the job, but continues to look for employment elsewhere.
