As a couple disagree over when to retire, a freak accident causes them to reevaluate their lives. Time has escaped them on many occasions since meeting in a 70's swinging arrangement, but now, Ken, must take three specific steps to fix his broken promise and complete the dream.

SYNOPSIS:

Starting in present day Michigan, everything seems to be perfect for Ken and Rachel Balzon as they party at a family wedding. Ken owns the present day story as he struggles with retirement. His internal conflicts, buried deep, slowly unfold as he is suddenly forced to face his demons...realizing that retirement is second only to death in the progression of life. Rachel only knows his health is declining and he broke his promise again! "One more year" was a statement she couldn't swallow. It's not what they agreed upon. This incident causes Rachel to drive off in tearful frustration. She didn't she the truck.

Seeing her lie helpless, Ken feels tremendous guilt and responsibility for the accident that could take her away from him once again. Alone... in the dark... he must face himself. He seems to receive divine guidance as he pilfers through Rachel's memory box filled with poems, photos and the old Maltese cross...

As we flashback to the bizarre way they met, Rachel commands the past story. It was her low self-esteem that caused a series of bad decisions... her innocence stolen on many occasions. But Ken, the dark stranger, brought a brief gift of love, a moment in time that would forever change her. Rachel's husband, Robert, who gave her to Ken, and Rachel's father make strong appearances... both of them breaking her to her darkest hour.

The story progresses back and forth as we marry the past and present only at cliffhanger moments. Much like "THE NOTEBOOK", there are two stories and two definable character arcs in each. Will he lose her again, or will he receive the miracle he has prayed for?
