SYNOPSIS:

The story follows the journey of Former Marine Corps Staff Sergeant (S Sgt) Maxine 'Max' Foster after she survives the massacre of her entire family and escapes from the tragedy on her bike. Hitting town after back-water town as she wonders aimlessly across middle America. After a year of sleepless nights filled with nightmares, Max lands in Hastings, Wisconsin. A hick town no different than the dozens she had filtered through month after month. She stops at the Lady Pockets for a big fat juicy steak and ends up rescuing an impossible situation that in the end leaves her as sheriff. Over the next four years Max makes solid friendships while keeping Hastings quiet and crime free. That is until the arrival of Lee Hu, a land developer determined to turn Hastings into town resort by any means necessary. When the town's Mayor and Lady Pockets owner turns up dead, her friends insist it isn't an accident. After Max finds unexpected evidence, she has no choice but to open an investigation, landing her, her friends and her new found love directly in the middle of Lee's cross-hairs.
