After the Spanish-Mexican War, a Mexican rancher becomes an outlaw as he sets out on a path of revenge against the men who killed his family and stole his land; he becomes a hero to his people as he struggles with survivor's guilt in a time where minorities have no rights and California has a shoot-first policy.
SYNOPSIS:
Based on the outlaw Joaquin Murrieta who inspired characters like Zorro and Batman. Set in California after the Spanish-American war, Joaquin is left for dead and his family murdered after white ranchers take his land illegally. Joaquin hunts down the men that wronged him, leaving the first governor of California to send a posse led by famous Capt. Love, a Texas Ranger, to catch Joaquin and his men. Along the way, Joaquin amasses a following and is dubbed the Mexican "Robin Hood."
