It took him thirty years to finish boot camp.
SYNOPSIS:
In 1978, Recruit Jeff Connor is a week from graduating from Marine Corps boot camp when he falls from The Obstacle Course and shatters his ankle. He is medically discharged. Embarrassed by his failure to be a Marine, he avoids his friends and family while attending college. By 2008, Assistant Principal Jeff Connor has gained forty pounds and sidestepping conflict has become his life’s signature. Consequentially, his wife has asked for a “trial” separation, his principal has started termination papers, his son detests him, and his health is deteriorating. Each night he drowns his helplessness in alcohol. One day two Marine recruiters show up at his school with an invitation to the Marine Educators Workshop – mini boot camp. After waiting thirty years, Jeff Connor once again sets out to complete The Obstacle Course.
