When a successful writer is given less than four months to live, she agrees to grant her cheating husband a divorce to marry his mistress only if he carries her downstairs for 40 days in a last bid to keep her broken family together.

SYNOPSIS:

Unlike the troubled women in her novels, Ava’s life seems ideal with her perfect husband, Ryan, and two wonderful children. The only blot on her picture perfect life is her mother, who disapproves of her marriage to a black man, resulting in a rift in the family, a family with many old and complicated family dynamics at play.

Her seemingly perfect life is suddenly shattered by two unforeseen events. She discovers her husband is having an affair and she is diagnosed with terminal cancer. When Ryan hands her the divorce papers, she knows her fairy tale is over, and that she’s busy dying.
