Trapped by a blizzard, a front desk clerk must fight to protect the guests and staff at her remote mountain lodge from deadly creatures that seem to be nothing more than shadows.
SYNOPSIS:
“Out of the Shadows" is a fast paced horror that’s like “The Thing” meets “The Mist”. A rockslide uncovers a portal to another dimension, allowing its inhabitants, strange creatures that appear to be nothing more than shadows, to crossover into our world. At a nearby resort, front desk clerk Deanna and a skeleton crew prepare for the incoming blizzard, unaware of the strange creatures lurking in the shadows. As night falls, and the storm begins to rage, the creatures make their move. Picking off staff and guests one by one. Deanna gathers the survivors in the clubhouse. The storm knocks out the power, forcing them to gather around the fireplace, both for warmth as well as protection from the strange creatures gathering outside. When morning comes, Deanna realizes they’re trapped. Cut off from the outside world by over four feet of snow. The survivors split into two groups; three head out on their only snowmobile to search for survivors, while Deanna and the others gather supplies, only to be ambushed by the creatures lurking in the shadows. Deanna uses a flashlight to fight them off, but Justina, the head housekeeper, is gravely injured. The other group’s also attacked, only two survive. They return with bad news; the town’s deserted. Signs of struggle everywhere, but no survivors. They barricade themselves in the clubhouse for another night, but the creatures have grown bolder. Attacking the clubhouse. Testing its defenses. Desperately trying to find a way in. Deanna realizes the only way they’ll survive the night is to fight back. Using propane tank bombs and Molotov Cocktails, they launch a surprise attack. Killing hundreds of silhouettes, but more keep coming. Thousands of them. Gathering along the treeline. Hiding in the shadows. Watching. Waiting. The next morning, with the resort compromised, Justina growing worse, and no signs of help, Deanna decides to lead the others on a treacherous ten mile hike, through the bitter cold, down a highway that’s always bathed in shadows, in hopes the hospital hasn’t been overrun.
