Attempting to reconnect with his young son after the death of his wife, Jules buys an old manor home once famous for producing spring water with a view to revive the business. However, the activation of the old waterwheel has released an entity that thirsts on misery and pushes Jules to kill his only child so it may slake its thirst.
SYNOPSIS:
Jules Barclay is the newest resident of Cold River and the first to move into the town in over a hundred years. Jules has bought an old manor home he is determined to restore to its former glory with the help of Michaela, a local builder.
The home has no electricity or running water, but it is a project Jules believes will help him bond with Tommy, the son he largely ignored while his wife was still alive. On the grounds is an old waterwheel that once pumped the spring water into the bottling shed. Water the town was famous for across the world.
Tommy, is a boy old women say “has the gift,” that his doctors prefer to label as schizophrenia. Tommy is still upset about the death of his mother and has never had a proper relationship with Jules.
Yet, something isn’t right with the manor house and Tommy knows it. It’s the little things at first; there are no birds singing in the brittle trees, nor bees in the garden. No animals are to be found within the woods and no spider dwells within the walls. Then Tommy discovers a blackened stake in the old courtyard; the site of a witch burning over 100 years prior. The execution of Mary Day, an Irish pagan convicted of witchcraft and the murder of three children. She was arrested and sentenced, without law or court and burned alive.
Then comes the thirst as Jules is drawn to the water. He can't quench it and once he's drunk his fill he needs it again, only more. But the thirst changes him, not knowing he's been tricked by a water demon into drinking her filth and replacing himself, little by little with the demon. For the demon thirsts on anguish and her desire and her thirst is only satisfied until her host kills everything he loves and himself.
