Stanley's interest in film-making extends back to his childhood. When movies began to move him, he sought to understand why. Along with that came a fascination with the process. If there was a featurette or behind-the-scenes extras, the methods and motivations of the film makers were revealed. Sure, some of the wonder and luster is lost, but peeking behind the curtain for the magic has its own rewards.
Stanley became a screenwriter by writing screenplays. Over a dozen feature length scripts and many more in short form, some just thirty seconds long. Telling a story in just 30 seconds is fantastic training for writing in a medium that demands brevity.
Stanley learned how to direct a film by directing films. He has experienced the singular pleasure of seeing his work realized on screen, feeling the collective response of a theater audience to the currency of emotion. His first directed work won best picture at the festival that produced it, presumably on the strength of his script.
With this new-found validation, Stanley continued to write both feature and short content, most often alone but sometimes in collaboration. Further validation came when some of his produced shorts were accepted into film festivals, even internationally. His scripts have translated successfully onto the screen.
Stanley has a keen appreciation for competent films of all genres. His writing reflects that. He has received good reviews for his comedy as well as drama and horror. He is currently working on a Sci-Fi epic.
