STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT

STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT
By Randy Vampotic

GENRE: Horror, Action
LOGLINE:

Elvis Flynn, along with his sister, Keira, are the two best operatives ever to not exist as far as the CIA is concerned. But when they discover among us the best natural (or supernatural) spies on Earth – vampires – they stumble down a path that connects US intelligence, powerful, immortal beings and their missing, CIA-operative parents.

SYNOPSIS:

What Happened

Two years ago, husband-and-wife CIA field operatives Martin and Carol Flynn fell off the grid. Written off by their superiors and presumed dead, they were swept under the vast rug of international black ops by everyone. Everyone, that is, except their children, Elvis and Keira. Trained – no, raised – as spies virtually since birth, Elvis and Keira have been operatives since their teens and are now, in their mid-20’s, probably the best two agents any nation has ever had.

But the one thing more important to them than their training, their orders and their oaths is family. So when Martin and Carol disappeared, Elvis and Keira nearly dismantled every intelligence operation on earth, trying to find their parents. All to no avail. Martin and Carol had been swallowed up without a trace.

Which brings us to today, and our show. Elvis still dabbles in freelance intelligence work (including the odd unsanctioned assassination), and Keira has found a place in corporate espionage.

When Elvis gets a mysterious call from Keira asking for help, which she has never done before, he immediately flies to New York. But he’s too late, and Keira is as gone as his parents.

But Keira has left clues. Clues that tell Elvis that she has been captured by the ultimate covert operatives… vampires. So Elvis enlists the aid of contacts new and old from the intelligence community and beyond to find and free his sister. But before he can even attempt it, Keira is made a vampire herself.

Elvis, already burdened with his inability to find his parents, now takes upon himself the quest to free his sister from the vampires and return her to humanity. But one problem; she isn’t sure she wants to come back.

How It Goes

Strangers in the Night aims to be the spiritual successor to series like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and X-Files. In other words, to take highly intelligent and capable characters and pit them not only against very real, very powerful human enemies, but also against supernatural nightmares. And along the way, these characters will grow, evolve and become intimately acquainted with both their best and worst selves.

There will be conspiracies and cabals, horrors both supernatural and all too real, and through it all… some laughs. No one in the show, least of all the audience, will fail to take the scares or danger seriously, and sometimes they’ll be outright freaked, but this show is what results when horrifying things happen to funny people. Not comedians or simple jokers, but highly trained, experienced operators in a very dangerous profession who are now faced with new kinds of danger and cope with it in the only ways they know how.

As Elvis faces each new challenge, he will come to question everything he thinks he knows about his family, his profession and even himself. The audience will learn that while he is an immensely likable and sympathetic character, his past is not without very dark corners, his motivation has not always been the purest and his conscience is not clean.

Keira, her betrothed, Krieger, and the other vampires, while being monsters in many senses, will be revealed as complex, multi-faceted beings with their own morality, weaknesses and agendas.

While Elvis’ quest against the vampires is the underlying thread of the series, various episodes will require all of the characters to diverge from this path to take on missions from both government and private contractors, right wrongs, protect one another and yes, get closer to finding out the fate of Elvis and Keira’s parents.

We’ll even have episodes where we learn about the origins and history of the vampires led by Krieger, including how they came to be in America, how they became involved with the CIA and how they fit into the mystery of the elder Flynns’ disappearance.

Strangers in the Night will be the most exciting, fun mash-up of horror, espionage, romance and mystery ever to hit screens. Hope you can be there.
