When a large earthquake traps an extremely claustrophobic man inside of an MRI machine, he's forced to battle against time and his own mind in order to survive.
SYNOPSIS:
Forty-two-year-old Michael Potter is about to have a very bad day. After discovering a lump in his throat, his wife demands that he must see a specialist at once. Although never a fan of doctors, Michael agrees and makes the appointment to have the testing done. More so for the sake of his wife and their five-year-old daughter.
Unfortunately for Michael, an MRI test is the most accurate form of diagnosis for his specific condition. Not only does he have a disdain for doctors, he's extremely claustrophobic, and being enclosed in such a tight space for forty-five minutes will prove to be more than nerve wracking.
Come test day, Michael hesitantly shows up. A possible cancer diagnosis and facing the tight quartered MRI machine has him worried beyond belief. However, knowing it's the right thing to do, he follows through.
After the MRI Tech announces "only five minutes to go", Michael breathes a sigh of relief, thinking that he's managed to keep his mind together in the cramped space for nearly three-quarters of an hour. Unfortunately, that's not the case! The ground rumbles as a large earthquake shakes the entire hospital. The jolt damages the MRI machine just enough to trap him inside. It's just the beginning! A series of aftershocks strike, collapsing the entire hospital building, burying Michael and Emily Yoo (the MRI technician) in a colossal heap of debris. To make the situation worse, the MRI examination room was on the first floor.
While trapped inside, they're exposed to a sequence of life-threatening events. Aftershocks keep the pace moving. The two face being crushed to death every time the earth shakes, burned alive due to an electrical shortage, drowning after a water main breaks, and facing an explosion when a gas line is severed.
Meanwhile, in between the moments of chaos, Michael reflects on his life and realizes that his choices have put him into this dire situation. It's no one's fault but his own. A lifetime of cause and effect have ultimately determined his destiny.
After Emily regains consciousness, the two of them form a bond and discuss how they will approach life differently if given a second chance.
