THE PASSENGER

THE PASSENGER
By Aaron Ridenour

GENRE: Historical, Horror
LOGLINE:

In 1589, a penniless orphan teams with the arrogant son of an aristocrat to face a supernatural creature on a merchant ship that threatens the expansion of the British empire in the New World.

SYNOPSIS:

We begin with seemingly disparate storylines. The crew of Cormorant are slaughtered by one of their own as he succumbs to a mysterious illness. JAMES WALKER faces threats from his extended family following the death of his father, JOHN WALKER. The crew of Solitude, captained by the alcoholic GEORGE LARKE, prepare for their voyage to the New World. James’s mother is in desperate need of supplies at the colony as she protects herself from the Secotan tribe. In the midst of all of this, orphan WILLIAM ATWOOD attempts to survive on the streets of London. We will follow each of these characters as their journeys converge on their voyage across the Atlantic where they discover that the morally ambiguous HADLEY has brought a terrifying creature on board.

Stranded in the middle of the ocean, they face countless challenges from depleting rations to the Spanish armada as the mysterious entity hunts the crew one by one. Their situation becomes more and more dire as they succumb to sickness and superstition. Will is plagued by vivid hallucinations of his dead mother at night. Mounting insurrection, secretly facilitated by Hadley, threatens to tear the crew apart before they can reach the colony. The discovery of the derelict Cormorant with only one survivor complicates the situation as they realize they may share the same fate. Over the course of the series, Will and James, aided by Larke and a Croatoan named KAJIKA, uncover the mystery surrounding the creature and come to a terrifying conclusion--

Everything is connected to the deceased John Walker.

If there is any hope of survival, Will, James, and Larke recognize they must face their inner demons and work together to stop Hadley and kill the creature before it decimates the crew and stops the supplies from reaching the colony. There is only one certainty--no one is coming to help them.
