History says the cannibal Karankawa tribe have died out. They used to feast on shipwrecked Spaniards. But, they still live off the grid in caves in the dunes of Padre Island, with cell phones, dune buggies, satellite TV. They look just like average island residents, but still have a taste for tourists.
