SYNOPSIS:
What is Amphibian - One title on a 16mm film among over 800 rescued from the growing trend to trash real films. 16mm film was once the most common way that students viewed media to learn about everything from Geography, Physical Education to Animals and Nature. Today most high school kids have never even seen a 16mm film. Go to the theater today and you will rarely hear that old whirring and clicking of film passing through a projector gate. Universities, colleges and even companies like the National Film Board of Canada have disposed of all their film stock and moved to digital. This short doc tells the story of the film library of Western Michigan University, saved from the trash twice to live on a little longer in an age of digital media and forgotten film.
