SYNOPSIS:

Malcolm served as a researcher for a prestigious collective of assassins and hit men for years before he finally got his shot at field work. The plan went off without a hitch, and should have lead to a fruitful life of clandestine murder. Instead, it lead to a gig working as a Second, the invisible failsafe agent that makes sure that mistakes are invisible and failures are punished. Unfortunately, on his first assignment covering an agent running a high risk for an "internal conflict," the subtleties of his new job begin to plague him. Between the creeping sense of alienation, dehumanization, and anxiety, Malcolm begins to wonder whether or not he has what it takes to pull the trigger should the other agent fail. Not only that, but a far more subversive sense of panic begins to grow in the back of his mind. If every agent has a Second, what do Seconds have? As the clock ticks down toward the moment of truth, Malcolm has to decide how much of himself he is willing to lose, or ignore, in order to do what he knows he must.
