THE “POSTER GIRL” PROJECT

This is a project that has been brewing in my mind for many years. Although I have attempted starting it some time ago I wanted first to get some experience and grow, even a little bit, as a screenwriter before I seriously try to develop it. Having had one short film made and having worked on a number of short scripts thus far and some commissioned work, I have a couple of ideas currently sitting as concepts or treatments though I believe this project, ready now to come out and be further developed is closer to my creative urge, the things I want to write and most of all the things I want to show.

I consider this script idea as a high concept-besides, what’s more important than beauty and individuality that we value so much nowadays (maybe too much sometimes?), however I wouldn’t like to put any such labels on it. This is the journey of Aurelia, journey by all means possible, in fact it is several journeys at the same time, external and internal. Above all, mirroring our world, the fake realities created, the fake realities into which Aurelia was brought up (but not born) do in fact resemble our own personal fake realities which we choose to go by daily.

What if you had to give up all that made you special? We now identify freedom with individuality. How can you be considered “free” first and foremost if it’s not the real you? If you don’t feel free to be who you are? TWIST THIS AROUND, and look at it from inside a surreal mirror: What if individuality meant a lifetime of serfdom to a twisted and isolated from reality ruling class, isolated from reality themselves in sea of power and pleasures? What good is freedom if living as a lesser being? What good is freedom in a near-lawless land? And what if you could be left free, free in a contained world where the one things that makes you special is the source for such misfortunes and misery?

A lifetime in Sodom, a lifetime in a lawless land or a lifetime struggling underground claiming the world could be better than it is, could be like our forefathers’ despite all its imperfections? How gold a cage be? And what about a golden bird, free in a grey world?

Why is beauty so important to us? Why it makes us feel good? And why it’s total absence could be a death penalty to humans, even those who keep beauty away from us all?

What if perfection is not in fact beautiful at all?
