About Alysia

Often recognized for appearing in the Oscar-winning film "Sideways", Reiner has expanded her roles over the years from actress, to award winning producer, humanitarian, outspoken environmentalist, and mother. In 2014 Reiner can be seen starring in her second season of Netflix's award-winning hit series "Orange is the New Black." Hailed as a must-watch show for Summer, "Orange is the New Black" centers around a women's prison, and Reiner stars as 'Natalie "FIG" Figueroa', the tough as nails assistant warden. When it premiered, "Orange Is The New Black" generated more viewers in its first week than any other Netflix original series. Season two premieres on June 6, 2014.

On the film front, Reiner was recently seen opposite Zac Efron in "That Awkward Moment" for Focus Features, and in two award winning, independent features: "Fort Tilden" [Grand Jury Prize at 2014 SXSW] and "Kelly & Cal" [Emergent Director Award at 2014 SXSW]. Reiner also recently finished filming scenes for "Life Itself" alongside Morgan Freeman and Diane Keaton, and "Revenge of the Green Dragons" opposite Ray Liotta - both are in post production. Additional film credits for Reiner include: period thriller "Primrose Lane", "Backawards" opposite James Van Der Beek, "Arranged", "Kissing Jessica Stein", "One Last Thing", "The A List", "For Love of the Game" opposite Kevin Costner, and Lee Toland Krieger's "The Viscious Kind" which was nominated for two Independent Spirit Awards. Reiner has also held roles in top television series including recurring and guest star roles on "Blue Bloods," "30 Rock," "Law & Order," "White Collar," "The Sopranos," "Love Monkey," "The Drew Carey Show," "The Exes," "The Starter Wife," and a series lead in the pilot "An Englishman in New York."

Reiner has also appeared on stages around the world; from the Sundance Filmmakers Lab in Utah to The Royal Court Theatre in London; from the famed Apollo Theatre in Harlem NYC to The Edinburgh Festival in Scotland. She starred in the New York premiere of "Pentecost" by Tony-winning playwright David Edgar, and the provocative two character play "An Oak Tree" with Tim Crouch, which won a Special Obie Award. Her portrayal of June Miller in "Anais Nin: One Of Her Lives" was critically acclaimed, as was her turn in "Wasps in Bed" at The Beckett Theater, of which The New York Times wrote "Alysia Reiner is priceless."

Reiner is a champion of all things eco-friendly. Her completely green Harlem brownstone renovation has been featured on "World's Greenest Homes," "Home & Family," and "Renovation Nation," as well as in various magazines including Dwell, Gotham, and The Nest. Reiner is also a celebrity spokesperson for Best for Babes and Healthy Child Healthy World, and her latest efforts include "+Pool," an initiative to build the world's first water-filtering floating pool right in New York's Hudson River, and "Flash Flood for Good," a campaign to raise awareness and funds for global clean water.

Additionally, Reiner is involved with many charities including The Cancer Support Community, Actors for Autism, The Young Women's Leadership Network, Amnesty International, PEN International, SAY: The Stuttering Association for the Young, Bent on Learning and Safe Kids Worldwide. And Reiner recently collaborated with KiraKira designer Suz Somersall to design a limited edition locket, with 100% of the sales donated to the Women's Prison Association.

Reiner's film EQUITY was acquired by Sony Pictures Classics at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.
