A houseboat tour of two different families and their children Marc, Marie and Claire Ficher and the twins Pit and Pat Hulot leads to  history knowledge of France and a speed race on the river Loire.

SYNOPSIS:

Three children,MARC 9 years ,MARIE 7 years and CLAIRE, 8 years old, travel with their father PAUL FICHER and their mother JAQUELINE FICHER,two teachers from Paris in an old houseboat during the hollidays along the river Loire.They see a lot and have a great time. Another boat is also on holiday there at the river Loire. Mister HENRY HULOT,a butcher from Paris, who lives in the same district as Mister Ficher with his family and his twins PAT and PIT, 8 years old, with his wife THERESA, travels along in a very modern and beautiful boat. They know each other a bit and get to know each other better. A little race starts between the two boats, but they meet each day at the evening or on a castle visit. Pilot Synopsis : Paul Ficher arrives with his wife Jaqueline, his son Marc and their daughters Marie and Claire at the haven of Châtillion at the river Loire. There they meet surprisingly their neighbours from Paris, the family Hulot, a butcher with his two sons Pit and Pat.The butcher´s boat is very expensive and big, and the Ficher´s own boat small.In the night the twins Pit and Pat dress as pirats and frighten Marc, Marie and Claire on their boat. On the next day the Fischers visit the castle Brisson and the kids make a costume workshop. The Hulots are also at the castle and follow the family Ficher on their castles´s tour with costumed guide.Marc and Claire take revenge at night and dress as the ghosts of Louis IVX of whom they had heard at the tour and frighten Pit and Pat on their boat.A race starts between the two houseboats and the kids on board.

EPISODE 2 : The houseboats of the Fichers and the Hulots travel along the river Loire. The family Ficher visits the town of Giens.

The family Hulot is crossing their way all day long. They meet in the town of Giens, where the Hulots are going to a restaurant.Marc decides to go fishing with his father Paul.The whole family Ficher travels along the river to the castle Sully sur Loire. There they barbecue with the fished fishes at the riverside by the beautiful castle in the evening.Pit and Pat are jealous as they see the romantic barbecue and disturb the Ficher´s.Henry Hulot the butcher decides to go fishing with is sons. On the next day he tries to do so, while the Fichers are traveling on to Saint Benois sur Loire. They visit the church there and the tomb of King Philip I ( d. 1108 )and learn about French history.The Hulots are having trouble fishing and do not catch any fish at all. They decide to go to a fish restaurant in Orleans.

EPISODE 3 : The houseboat of the family Ficher is traveling to Chateauneuf sur Loire a UNESCO world heritage town.They travel in a chanel for the houseboat beside the river Loire. The family Hulot travels straight on to Orleans. The Fichers travel to Orlean too. In Orleans they visit the house of Jean d´Arc and the cathedral Saint Croix of Orlean.The Hulots meet them on the street where Pit and Pat are walking with their parents.They try to find a fish restaurant.The history of Jean d´Arc is presented for children.The family Ficher visits the statue of Jean d´Arc and the house where she has lived in Orleans.

EPISODE 4 : The Fichers are traveling with their houseboat from Orleans to Muides sur Loire and make a bike tour to the castle Chambord. They meet the Hulots again and Pit and Pat are playing with Marc, Marie and Claire in the area of the castle Chambord king and queen of Chambord. The history of Chambord is presented for children. Then the Fichers make a bike tour in the parc of Chambord and watch wild animals there.The Hulots visit the city of Chambord to find a restaurant.

EPISODE 5 : On the next day the families Hulot and Ficher are traveling with their houseboats to the castle Blois. They make the family castle tour " The King needs you ", where a sign search game explains the history of King Francois I. At the evening there is a dinner at the castle in costumes, the children play ancient princesses and princes.Pit and Pat fight with their plastic sword with Marc, who plays King Francois I.

Episode 6 : The two houseboats travel along the river Loire to the next castle and at night the twins Pit and Pat play pirates again. Next day they take a little boat and drive alone without their parents along the river Loire into the national parc of Loir Anjou Tourraines. The Hulots are very concerned when their children are missing and ask the Fichers to help with the search for the twins. Marc finds out where they might have gone : to the castle of Saumur, they want to see the famous horses there. The two families follow the river Loire to Saumur and find the twins there at a horse show.

The episodes follow the path of the river Loire and the historical places there. The history is presented for kids and they have fun exploring the towns and castles and traveling with the houseboats.
