When his bar fails, a 40-year old divorced Chinese musician finds himself the proud owner of a driving school.
SYNOPSIS:
HARRY LEE, a divorced Chinese musician gets played by his girl friend/partner who takes off with his money for her bar renovation. Anxious not to be a failure in his parents’ eyes and still harboring dreams of owning a bar and promoting his musical career, he tries desperately to turn the failing business around. Rather than be left with nothing, he trades the bar for a driving school (i.e. one car) and his lessons are complete disasters.
FREDDIE FUNSTON, a bar regular and former part-time DJ who took over the family funeral business admires Harry for chasing his dream and wants to be friends because he has no friends and no life. Harry tries to distance himself from Freddie, but pretty soon they’re confiding in each other. Harry’s ready to quit the driving school business when Freddie’s awful driving sends him back to driving school.
Harry plays gigs at the funeral home and makes Freddie his last client while he enters a songwriting contest with a big cash prize. Ready to move on after receiving an honorable mention, Harry gives Freddie his last lesson. They get caught up in a robbery and become heroes, but there’s no reward money. The one thing Freddie does have is money. He convinces Harry to accept a loan from him to buy another bar, hoping to be a DJ there.
