SIXTYSOMETHING 2 (AKA TWO BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS)
By Carol Hoffman

GENRE: Romance, Comedy
LOGLINE:

Mass media and social media are all over the story when a missing senior bachelor hooks up with a widow and his never-married senior sister and the widow's brother fall in love while trying to stop a wedding.

SYNOPSIS:

PEG SNYDER, 67, never-married, and CAP, 66, her retired bachelor brother, are seemingly polar opposites who live together in the house they grew up in and have a long history of dependence, responsibility and resentment issues. Peg is the responsible sibling, yet falls apart at the thought of Cap marrying IRMA PRESTON, 66, a lively widow he just met and moving out. Though Peg is independent, she is a closeted dependent, and Cap almost can’t completely comprehend this as she hides behind a bossy exterior.

The battle lines are drawn, but this is one fight Peg is destined to lose because she is forced to take a long, hard look at herself and listen to her heart, not her head. Cap and Irma hope Peg and Irma’s brother, BILL, 65, a shy, retired accountant, will hit it off. The more time they spend together, being critical of Cap and Irma and plotting against them, the more they are drawn to each other. While Cap is on his personal journey as he falls in love and wiggles out from under Peg’s thumb, Peg is on a personal journey of her own. A caretaker for her elderly parents and then Cap, because she was too afraid to take any chances in life, Peg finds love and discovers love is stronger than fear.

The foursome honors a contract they signed, selling the rights to their story after Cap deserted Peg at a gourd show and didn’t return home. When the outrageous TV talk show host turns the interview into a free-for-all, Cap and Peg realize neither one of them is a saint, apologize for their stubborn ways and vow to bury the hatchet. Peg and Bill help with wedding plans. Peg and Irma are a hit at karaoke at Irma’s bachelorette party, but Cap’s bachelor party goes off the rails. Peg and Irma can’t find them when they fail to return home, but they show up in time to stop Peg from launching another search.
