My background is in Television News and my dream was to be a photographer. My first opportunity as a Cinematographer was at a workshop at the Lorne Green School of Cinematography and I realized it was the perfect marriage of the two careers. Although most of my work these days involves digital shooting, I'm still addicted to the sound of film travelling through the sprockets and jump at every opportunity to shoot film.
As far as Digital Camera work I use a 5DMkII and a 1DMKIV. I specialize in Telephoto shots with a modified Canon 2.8L 300mm FD lens because of it's extremely sharp quality, beautiful focus ring and manual F-stop control. Think of me when you need that sweet street compression and headshot quality that can't be duplicated with any other Cine lens.
My work these days is divided between video production and stills and I specialize in low light, long prime shooting at sporting events. The DSLR video technology allows me to use my long prime lenses for video production and it has created some demand.I also work out of a studio in Toronto doing publicity photos and love to do a lot of location stills too, also with fast long primes resulting in images not commonly seen in the publicity photo market.
