WHO I AM
My movie making career started when I was 13 and saw the first of The Lord of the Rings movies. I was completely sold. To be able to create an entire world, for viewers to emerge in for the time of a few hours, was the greatest good for me! I am Wisse Stolk, born in 1987 in Amersfoort and currently living and working as a freelancer based in Utrecht, The Netherlands. I still see the original appeal The Lord of the Rings had on me, however my film knowledge has immensely broadened since then.
HOW I AM EDUCATED
In 2004 I created my first film Little Soldier about the comparison of child soldiers and kids playing war. In 2006 I started studying Audiovisual Media at the Utrecht School of Arts. During my years there I have tried to gain as much insight in every aspect of movie making as I could, to graduate as a fiction director in 2012.
WHAT I LIKE IN FILM
I love stories filled with a certain optimism. I want a story to show the entire painful truth, but also to show the tiny hint of hope a character has for a better tomorrow. Living in a world that seems so incredibly dark, gritty and full of war, shows me the many positive characteristics of human beings. Humans seem to have a certain resilience against hopelessness.
I have a lot of experience in many different audiovisual fields. At the moment I am primarily focused on directing and editing/ camerawork on the side. I fit well in many different teams and am quick on the uptake. I have experience on small student set as well as big television productions. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any more questions.
Take care!
