SYNOPSIS:
Travel back in time to 1935, Ray Clark, a struggling juke joint owner in the heart of Chicago, is eager to set the stage on fire, by holding auditions for young blues musicians. He hires three traveling juke performers, two shim sham dancers & one trumpeter, who call themselves the Barrel House Boys, aside a darling young canary named Mary Thompson. In a world where Jim Crow Laws and Prohibition are heavily engaged, it seems like segregation is more important to the authorities than having a good time, but that doesn't stop the flow of commercial business as Mr. Clark unexpectedly gets a visit and a gift from a New Orleanais, named Flipping Floyd Johnson, with a wealthy sponsor named Roger Pullman. Tables flip when two of the dancers, Walter & Eugene get fired for distributing bootleg out of the back ;therefore Rooster, a talented musician & owner of a nightclub called Church back in Idlewild, ran by Percival Jenkins, arrives with a golden train ticket he inherited from the deceased Sally B. Shelly to take the place of Angel Davenport in the venue as opening act. The two Barrel House Boys are forced to find another gig, aiding the help of Flipping Floyd, who directs them toward his sponsor, Roger Pullman, who has dastardly plans on creating interference for Mr. Clark's Juke Joint.
