In a world where everyone is born with voices in their heads that guide them through life, everything always runs smoothly and everyone seems to be perfectly in sync. Adam, however, is terrified that there's something wrong with him; because the voice in his head has been acting strange.

Adam is woken up by a woman's voice, who then helps him get through his morning by guiding him through every single decision. Things seem to be runnings smoothly, but there's a tension between Adam and the voice in his head. There's something she wants to talk about, but Adam continues to avoid the topic.

When he gets to work, we see that everyone in this world has voices in their heads called "guides," who guide them through life. Even though Adam's guide has always told him not to tell anyone else about their unorthodox conversations, he gets frustrated and tells a coworker everything. Suddenly, Adam's guide is in a panic and makes a shocking request that could turn this entire world upside-down.
