SYNOPSIS:
Welcome to the wonderful and infinitely screwed up world of best friends, Ally and Max. Ally is struggling to make her mark working for a Manhattan real estate company, but she’s barely keeping her head above water. During the pilot episode we see the straw that breaks the camel's back, when during an emergency involving her down syndrome brother capturing a ‘goblin’, she accidentally allows squatters to take over a luxury apartment she’s trying to rent out. Losing this deal, along with the mountain of debt she’s accumulated, she spirals out of control. Luckily Max is there to go down in flames with her, as he has just been kicked out of the start-up company he co-founded and is wallowing in his own failure.
We see cracks start to form as Ally and Max both turn to the coping mechanisms they know best, alcohol and sex. Ally loses her job as a result of the squatters, and is promptly ostracised from the Manhattan real estate world. As they try to deal with the repercussions of the day, Ally’s brother is the anchor that holds them together, providing them some much needed laughter.
