Built to Fail

Film
(Documentary)
Editorial department Built To Fail follows Bobby Kim founder of The Hundreds as he goes on an intrepid journey to define and document one of the most elusive fashion phenomena of out times, "Streetwear." Only fifty years old, what started in the subcultures of the skate and the punk movement is today a $70 billion dollar industry. Bobby takes a very personal look at the people who were there at the beginning and started it all. From Rick Klotz of FreshJive to Eli Bonerz of X-Large and Stash and Futura of GFS -- they share the stories of their early struggles and what drove them in many cases, unwittingly, to create an industry. Bobby discovers what happened to Don Busweiler of Pervert who famously dropped out at the height of his fame. With Tommy Hilfiger and Russell Simmons Bobby learns how the business changed significantly once real money got involved. Bobby then talks to the latest generation of street wear designers and influencers from A$AP Rocky and Spanto of Born X Raised to Mega from Black Scale ... Written by Matti Leshem

Each year, roughly 35,000 young adults reach the end of their allotted time in the foster care system and are thrust out into the world to make it on their own - whether they are ready for it or not. These young people are forced to navigate all of the responsibilities of adulthood, many without having sufficient preparation nor the ongoing guidance and safety net that in-tact families can provide during these formative years. Some even go straight from foster care to homelessness. The struggles these youth endure result in higher incidences of incarceration, unemployment, substance abuse, teen parenting, mental health issues and educational difficulties than the rest of the population. Through youth telling their stories, and also by hearing from professionals in the field, it explains how children enter the foster care system, what happens while they are there, and especially how they transition out of it. ...

Editorial department Sapna and Manu enter a new world during the time of unparalleled prosperity and the late 90's American excesses. One arrives with bright eyes destined to be tempted. The other, skeptical, soon to be deceived by a mirage. During their search to make their lives complete, decisions are made which will alter their planned course. Trade Offs is an intriguing and witty tale about the greed and temptation that often accompany dreams and desires. A film shot through a cultural lens, but universal in theme. Trade Offs goes beyond what is obvious to explore the shades of gray. No culture has monopoly on greed and temptation. We all are temptful, greedy and lustful. We all make trade-offs. Don't we?
