SYNOPSIS:

TV PILOT

Just after 6 p.m. on the evening of April 4, 1968, Martin Luther King Jr, was assassinated on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, TN.

In present day Memphis, Lawrence Aaron Adair Jr. (Lo/LJ) and his boy JoJo roll up on rival dealers and get an edge on them. In the midst of the bloody scene a mysterious Man in White appears, walks and surveys the scene.

Later in the evening Lonnie strolls into his grandmother Nella’s kitchen where we learn that she marched with King and she is all the family Lonnie has.

The next day Lonnie & Joe make their pick up at a Doctor’s office, as they exit, the Man in White watches from across the street.

Lonnie and Joe make their deal.

Lonnie, Joe and an entourage party at a local dance club, and Lonnie has his first encounter with the Man in White. First, in a Psychedelic-like experience with the lights from the club reflecting off the man. A violent, highly intoxicated Lonnie meets him alone in the men’s room. MIW pulls out a small clear, square device. Lonnie blacks out.

He wakes in an alley and finds himself in a strange place. At first he thinks he is still “Trippin”. We see that he is in 1968.

As he stumbles to and sits on a bench he sees people pass by with signs that read “I AM A MAN”. He realizes the significance and follows after the crowd.

Across the street at a Diner, a perfectly complexioned blond man in a Pin Striped Suit (PSM) meets up with another man in a meat locker; the would be assassin. He shows him the precise plans, down to the very minute, for King’s murder.

As Lonnie follows the “I AM A MAN” group, he turns a corner around a large building and into a massive crowd, marching. He is in the middle of the historic Memphis sanitation worker's march, the week before King’s assassination.

Before he knows what is happening, a group of young men start throwing bricks into windows, and all hell breaks loose.

Lonnie moves out of the crowd, and he sees a police officer beating a young woman, the Iconic Photo, he grabs him, tosses him aside and fights back. This leads to a group of cops beating him down.

He wakes chained to a hospital bed.

A doctor, PSM, Questions what he knows. Lonnie is hesitant to answer, unsure of anything at this point.

Suddenly, MIW appears, and fights PSM. During the ensuing fight Lonnie sees a tattoo on MIW’s neck, freaks out. PSM fires a weapon we have never seen before, hitting a chair, and nothing happens at first. We hear heals approaching, PSM pulls out a device like MIW’s and disappears.

MIW tells Lonnie to focus on King and not personal stuff. MIW disappears. The chair disappears as a much younger Nella, Lonnie’s grandmother, walks in.

In the distant future a man squeegees a luminescent hallway. He stands to reveal his nametag, ADAIR.

He is MIW, and also Lonnie wearing a gray, janitor's suit embroidered with GT Technology.

This is only the beginning of a very convoluted time travel series that intersects Black History, Hip Hop and future tech.
