A weather scientist and his team create the most terrifying lightning storm in history that travels the planet, hunting them and killing with purpose. As the last survivor, and with his family in jeopardy, he struggles to outwit vicious Mother Nature in the role of Terminator.
SYNOPSIS:
Mother Nature's sentient weapon, a deadly lightning storm, hunting to kill Jeff Holden and his team of scientists is incomprehensible to the terrified victims; yet that is how nature defends the planet after the weapons test burns a hole in the atmosphere.
Holden learns an awful truth -- that their electrical signatures have been imprinted by the earth's magnetic field. His debt will be paid back to the planet only when his DNA is wiped out. And the storm is crossing seas and continents heading for them. The arc of the first season includes three unexplained deaths of Holden's team, resulting in baffling local crime investigations in several cities.
While the Navy brass are ready to sacrifice Holden to stop the destruction, his horror at realizing the storm is targeting and killing his team is compounded by his dilemma -- to flee or stay and protect Gina, his college sweetheart, now a widow, along with her bratty three-year-old son.
The Navy's assurance that his family is not a target is shattered when the storm attacks Gina and son. The revelation is stunning and inescapable. The brat has his own DNA, and is HIS SON. Suddenly everything changes between Holden and Gina.
That's when he comes up with a stunning plan to lure the storm after him -- offering his life in reparation to save the planet. As he pilots a fighter jet to the Arctic, he is unaware that the storm catches up with Gina. She is struck by lightning and dies while protecting the boy as the season ends.
