When death, in all forms, befalls a young African American male, who attends Columbia University and has paranoid schizophrenia, a beautiful young girl, who is the same age and attends the same college, ends up as the young man's hostage when he gets ignored by her and makes the decision to stop taking his medication, kidnaps the girl and he takes her back to his house where he threatens to kill himself at midnight via a gunshot through the head and forces his hostage to witness it. He lets the girl tell her parents where she is and the girl's parents call the police and the entire precinct goes to the location where the two youngsters are holed up and then, the entire precinct, with the help of a hostage negotiator back at the precinct must save the hostage before the young man commits suicide at the scheduled time.
