A headstrong college basketball star battles a greedy booster and corrupt NCAA officials while trying to lead his team to a national title.
SYNOPSIS:
A college basketball star with dreams of leading his team to a national title finds out the line between friend and foe is paper thin. LaTroy’s athletic director, Michael, is a bitter man resentful of LaTroy’s pro potential because it constantly reminds him of his own failed pro career. His coach is grateful for his talents but unsympathetic to his plight of financial hardship. Early on in the season, LaTroy is introduced to a booster by teammate Kenyon. He hesitates to accept Winston’s help at first but later agrees after a post-game incident with two fans opens his eyes to his exploitation.
Accepting Winston’s financial aid gets the disapproval of his girlfriend, Chante but is welcomed by his poverty stricken family who is able to pay for a much needed surgery and move to a better neighborhood. All seems great until Winston asks LaTroy to throw an important midseason game. LaTroy is consumed with guilt and has a bout of déjà vu when asked to engage in similar actions by his athletic director per the orders of NCAA officials. On the night of the national title game, LaTroy must decide what means the most to him, basketball, money, or his soul.
