This nine-hour serial narrative uses detective-story tropes to explore the unforeseen consequences of today’s technology. Its true subject is what it means to be human. Finder updates classic noir themes of alienation and cynicism, placing them in the context of today’s crises. It explores the fear of the other and interrogates humanity itself. It envisions the world as it may well become: a dangerously degraded environment, a society where social touching is considered obscene and most people have retreated to the virtual world. As the main storyline of season one follows FINDER’s search for the runaway chimera, MIRALUNA ROSE, we follow his own transformation from an embittered man— barely human—to someone who opens to connection.
