ITS RAINING.]
IFAN FENCIS
“Lets walk.”
[IFAN AND LIZ HEAD WEST ALONG GEORGIA
STREET.]
IFAN FENCIS
“Things are about to get incredibly bizarre in this town.”
LIZ CARNEGIE
“More bizarre, how is that even possible?”
IFAN FENCIS
“You jest Liz, but that winged serpent from earlier was a mere
precursor to events already set in motion which will culminate this
coming Yule. Cole’s dealing with a personal crisis with Pete as well as
a crazed group of local yokels who’ve taken it upon themselves to
hunt vampires.”
LIZ CARNEGIE
“I’ll pretend I didn’t hear the part about vampires. Liz Carnegie is not a
vampire slayer; Liz Carnegie captures strange people who regenerate
after blowing themselves up, whom appear to follow the orders of the
Devil. Was Abbaddon the winged Serpent?”
IFAN FENCIS
“Definitely, long before he became Abbaddon though. He’s been
playing a long game indeed. He‘s a Djinn who corrupted the life stream
of the man who originally possessed the physical body he inhabits.
Cyril Abbaddon was a wealthy physicist in another reality whom funded
an extra-dimensional exploration project led by his son Malcolm. There
was a horrific accident, with as always seems to be the case, the Black
Brigade as the culprits. Malcolm‘s reality was formed from anti-matter
and when he came in contact with matter from our reality, he was
severely damaged on a quantum level. The matter and antimatter
within him fought for dominance, and due to being an antimatter reality,
the antimatter sought outward to wipe out all traces of its opposing
force. It became a disease which became a contagion which spread to
all those around him. The disease gained sentience when it hit Cyril,
which became extra-temporal, hitting the heavenly realms, creating the
Djinn and the Archons; seeking nothing less then the complete
subjugation of everything. But there is hope; a tiny spark of Malcolm
was still sane, that spark came to be born as Cole, then Valerian, then
Francis, then me. There‘s others too numerous to name, but you get
the gist.”
LIZ CARNEGIE
“Well Ifan, so we’re fighting a force that you indirectly created. I forgive
you. What’s Pete’s issue?”
IFAN FENCIS
“Some creep spiked his drink with Meth or Bath Salts or something.
Luckily he didn’t try to eat Cole’s face off like some other Bath Salt
imbibers have done. It was more like a mixture of a roofie and an
overdose of Viagra. The two got in a fight. The sexual frustration
brought on by the stimulant which Cole, worried about Pete’s level of
intoxication refused to fulfil filled Pete with a drug fuelled rage; leading
first to a torrent of verbal abuse, culminating in an attempt on Pete’s
part at felony sexual assault. Which led to him getting the crap beat
out of him by Cole; to which Cole probably feels more guilty over than
Pete does for his actions.”
LIZ CARNEGIE
“So I’m guessing they’re calling it quits?”
IFAN FENCIS
“They won’t have to. The historical record tells us that Pete falls
through a gravity well into Incuba Five’s revolutionary era of two
thousand years ago and writes the Charn chronicles which are still
taught in graduate schools in my day. I and Cole incarnated as Charn
so Pete’s presence makes perfect sense. It happens sometime in
twenty fifteen.”
LIZ CARNEGIE
“I thought it was your sister who wrote the chronicles.”
IFAN FENCIS
“Remember Liz, my sister was Pete, along with Tommy and that guy
Cole killed in nineteen thirteen. Cole painted Pete into the portrait of
Charn, but he portrayed him in another form. He either saw Katherine,
Evelyn through Pete, or picked up my memories of her, allowing him
to capture her likeness on canvas. Its all part of the plan really. Cole
will be able to handle Pete’s disappearance a whole lot easier after
what’s occurred between them last night.”
LIZ CARNEGIE
“You are so utilitarian. So what are we doing?”
IFAN FENCIS
“As we’ve been walking, I’ve had my e-reader scanning for ultra-
dimensional particles, collated to give me a visual image of the
surrounding area emanating from the compressed timeline rubbing up
against our own.”
LIZ CARNEGIE
“That’s a new one on me.”
IFAN FENCIS
“Think of dark matter as the ninety percent of reality that contains all
the other time lines. By scanning for ultra-dimensional particles I can
hone in on a particular time line that is slowly seeping into ours. Come
on, we’ll head back and let you enjoy your day with Cole and Horatio.”
[IFAN AND LIZ TURN IN THE OPPOSITE
DIRECTION, HEADING BACK THE WAY THEY
CAME.
IFAN PLACES A HAND ON LIZ’S SHOULDER.
IFAN AND LIZ DISSOLVE FROM VIEW, BECOMING
EVER MORE FAINT WITH EACH STEP THEY TAKE.]
