The Borough is a dramatic series about a young African-American male (James) trying to make it in the town where he grew up. Raised by his single mother, James occasionally runs into his estranged father who still lives in town. Our antagonist works a simple job as a customer service rep at a local bank branch outside of the borough. He is a recent college dropout who only lasted one semester do to low grades. Because of his failing grades, he was unable to keep his scholarship for underprivileged graduates. His parents originally lived in Philly but moved to the borough for a better life but never found it.

After a troubling experience in the first episode, the main character starts to investigate corruption in the small town politics which sparks the driving force of the series; how a regular and unwitting guy finds himself taking on the town and becomes a champion and real-life hero for the average citizen.

Throughout the series, he occasionally runs into friends and acquaintances from the past before he got his life back together and find opportunities to help others through the knowledge and experience he gains from his run-ins with the law, court system and the local community. The series will touch on a number of social issues ranging from political corruption, racism, economics, broken homes, human trafficking, drugs, organized religion, and mental health. The series will be sensitive to many of these aspects both the good and evil of politics and other issues. Through James’ example the viewer can learn a lot about how can change the world around them even someone with a humble background.
