SYNOPSIS:

203 - The number of times Mia and her community college drop-out boyfriend had sex before he dumped her for his best friend. Too many to count. - The number of times Mia has questioned her decision to study journalism at a state college. 3 - The number of Fried Chicken and Porn nights Mia will attend in her first year at art school. Welcome to the world of THE ARTISTS, a half-hour dramedy centered around Mia Hoover and her misfit friends as they navigate their way through the sea of what we may refer to today as "hipsters". After nearly failing out of a state college for taking a few too many creative liberties in her journalism classes, Mia is convinced by her friend Liz to transfer to Chicago's Fillmore Academy, the artsiest and craziest of art schools. With the tone of GIRLS and the humor of SUMMER HEIGHTS HIGH, THE ARTISTS focuses strongly on female friendships, LGBTQ relationships, and the painfully real struggle of self-identity through art and culture in the changing times. THE ARTISTS won Best Original Pilot at the BEA Awards, and was recognized as a quarterfinalist in the Filmmakers 1st TV Script Writing Competition.
