Hi peeps! My name is Emilia and I moved to Sydney all the way from Italy to study filmmaking. I am currently shooting my first thriller short film, but I'm struggling as I don't really know anyone here. I've been using a lot of websites to advertise my work but because I'm a student and I cant pay people, a lot of them are bailing on me last minute or just dont show up on shooting days, which is very frustrating. I had a pretty shitty birthday yesterday but woke this morning to a very welcome belated present.

I've had a script on the desk of a very successful writer/director/producer for a couple of months now. He's set up/sold over 40 scripts over the years including one spec that sold for $3M and never got made.

I'd kinda given up hope on him but today he emails me and tells me he loves it but his slate is full for a considerable period.

However, he's gonna recommend it to a couple of other producers and an agent with whom he is confident will respond well to the material. Given that he is Los Angeles and I'm in London and I was 47 yesterday I'm pretty made up. 2nd thing I've ever written.

I submitted a written submission and 24 hours later a great production company has already requested my script "VampirE.R.s" I know it's not a guarantee something will happen (but that doesn't mean I will not be crossing my fingers, eyes, ears, and toes!!); It's a great boost for the ego and another way for fellow-screenwriters to get their work out there. Stage 32 is the real deal. Keep on writing my friends, one day we'll all catch our rainbow!
