SYNOPSIS:

Pieter "Big" Hose and Joe Dang are high school best friends and teammates in the world’s most absurd sport: tossing 40-ton steel blocks straight up. It's not just a competition — it's a true test of strength, willpower, and the human body’s limits. Despite the zero chance of ever lifting one of these monstrous blocks off the ground, they keep throwing themselves into the madness, chasing that elusive win. Their record so far? Zero blocks lifted. Zero trophies. But, hey, someone’s got to win, right?

“Okay, Pieter, I think I just broke my arm, but that’s nothing compared to how high I got it in the air!” Joe declares, lying flat on the ground, despite the block not even budging. “Joe, if you can’t lift the block, maybe it’s time to admit you’re lacking a little something… like strength?” Pieter quips, holding his own block and trying to look confident.

After a series of catastrophic injuries at the Junior Open, where they both somehow earn participation medals, they meet Tashi Winevessel, a quirky young journalist who’s covering the world's most hopeless athletes. Tashi is immediately captivated by both Pieter and Joe, not because they’re skilled or talented, but because they are the perfect embodiment of absurdity. It’s not love, but it’s definitely something.

"If you guys can lift just one block, I’ll give you an interview—and not just any interview... the world will know your names!" Tashi challenges, making the stakes even higher for the already ridiculously ambitious duo.

However, there’s fierce competition for Tashi’s attention — MMA champions, boxers, and even hitmen are all trying to win her heart. But in an unexpected twist, Tashi grows fond of Pieter “Big” Hose, sparking a heated rivalry with Joe.

Things get even crazier when the championship shifts to 50-ton steel blocks, with a prize of 1 million dollars at stake. But Pieter, who’s still recovering from a hernia after his failed attempts with the 40-ton blocks, faces a near-impossible challenge. Can he lift 50 tons? The answer? Probably not.

"Okay, here I am at the starting line. Time to lift this damn block… oh wait… I can’t even stand up!" Pieter grins, feeling the hernia flare up just thinking about it.

At the championship, Joe returns to the scene, determined to prove who’s truly worthy of the million-dollar prize and Tashi’s affection. The competition is fierce, but despite their many failings, the two friends are still having the time of their lives, all while holding back their emotions.

“I might lose, but I love her!” Joe declares, as the 50-ton block miraculously begins to shift, just when he finds the right angle.

In the midst of the final showdown, Tashi suddenly leaves with an Arab horseman, who already has everything: money, power, and a strange belief that she’ll never leave him because—well—he’s an Arab horseman. And he’s very rich.

“Pieter, Joe, you couldn’t even lift those blocks, but I just hopped on my horseman and rode off! Who knew he’d be twice as sexy as your 40 tons of steel?” Tashi laughs, riding off into the sunset.

Pieter and Joe, still arguing about who truly “won” this absurd competition, continue to debate long after the event ends. But in the end, the winner is never declared, and the final remains as open as the question: who’s the bigger fool in this crazy sport?
