Dom Aelred Carlyle osb was a great visionary restorationist of the Monks of St Benedict and his Rule. This was an utterly remarkable leader. With no monastic resources per se in the Church of England, Carlyle went doggedly about, a modern day Saint Dunstan, atteracting many to the monastic tree he conceived of and built - Caldey, Prinknash, Nashdom (which was my place of intersection in the story) and Pluscarden Abbies ~ what a legacy of abundant fruit for a convert!
