REVELATION
By David L Hauslein

GENRE: Crime, Drama
LOGLINE:

The sole surviving daughter of an infamous cult leader becomes suspicious when her new boyfriend suggests digging up the past to pay off her family’s debt. As his motives become clear, she struggles to protect him from her violent and unpredictable mother, who has never given up the faith.

SYNOPSIS:

It’s been over twenty years since the Children of Anak cult was massacred in a botched ATF raid. When the dust settled, there were just two survivors - the leader’s traumatized wife Angie Schmidt and her eldest daughter Genesis. The youngest son, Gabriel, is missing, presumed dead. Angie still believes he escaped and is out there somewhere…maybe living in the foothills of the mountains that surround their vast acreage.

Genesis has been taking care of her mother ever since the court case was settled. They still reside on the property. It is a monument to the worst day of both their lives, a graveyard of bad memories. Angie basks in them, torturing herself. Genesis wants nothing more than to escape, but fears what her mother might do if left to her own devices. She is unhinged, heavily armed, and addicted to horse tranquilizers. What’s worse is she has squandered all the family’s money. Genesis works a low-paying job at a big box hardware store to pay their monthly expenses.

The Schmidts face eviction for unpaid property taxes. If they cannot come up with a large sum of money in just a few days, they’ll be forced to leave. A mixed blessing for Genesis, who sees an opportunity to start a new life and distance herself from the past, but also the near-impossible task of moving her mother into an elder care facility.

Then, seemingly out of nowhere, she meets a charismatic young man named Dustin Losey. They quickly start an intense, passionate relationship. But Genesis becomes suspicious when he suggests digging up buried bunkers on the property to look for a rumored “go bag” full of cash that might be the answer to all their problems. He seems to know a little too much about the family, but she is so invested in the relationship that she ignores the red flags. Angie, however, is not so blind to this charismatic stranger’s questionable motives.

Secrets are revealed, the past is unearthed, and blood is shed as the terrible legacy of the Schmidt family enters a dark new era.
