When a variant of "Mad Cow" brain disease strikes the U.S. a young woman and her infected lover flee to a rumored sanctuary in the Mojave Desert that is actually a lab conducting radical medical experiments. She finally frees her lover and they flee, but she now finds herself alone in the desert with what he has become and has to find a way to say alive.
