Young Jonah's faith carries him and his young sister, Celine, to the last borderland town, Harpdale, in order to escape captivity. They seek out his mother's old friend, the famous reformed gunslinger Kulta; but what they find is more than what anyone bargains for. Set in a Sci-Fi Western town with the air of a Steampunk theme, this tale will begin a journey of high adventure.
SYNOPSIS:
"Outlawed Faith" is like the stories of old where the good must rise up to protect the innocent. In the vein of many Clint Eastwood films placed in a Steampunk/Western/Sci-Fi backdrop. A reformed gunslinger sets off to protect himself, but learns that there are some things worth dying for. A young boy is tasked to protect his two little sisters, while one of them has the illegal gift of being a Seer.
These are the plot points of original film project, "Outlawed Faith".
A young Kulta wakes to find that his live-in girlfriend is pregnant. His physique shows he is a killing machine from the muscles on his body to the scars on his skin; he is a hired gun by dress. The girl, Cassandra, is no better and is an escort by night. But the two somehow find love in this backwater town. With the news, the two recognize the need to change for the better of their little one. All of the savings will now pay off. They will get out of their activities and learn to embrace a new way of living - become a proper family and raise some youngins. They are set to live a dream that only a few can have in a place like Harpdale.
Kulta arrives at the boss' house, Barnabas. The men are called Klinkerton’s but Kulta is simply just a hired hand on certain jobs. Kulta has been doing a good job and Barnabas sings his praises. He does his job as only he believes one can - to their best. He does not allow himself to become emotionally attached to others nor does he partake in the extracurricular activities. Barnabas calls several men in to give them a new assignment. During this meeting, Barnabas chastises one of the man, Nicky. In the process, Barnabas points out how they need to be more like Kulta. Nicky does not forget and needs no speed bumps as he makes his way up the latter. He knows he will have to "take care of" Kulta as too much attention has been given to him.
Nicky decides he must send a message. On the way to the job, Nicky convinces the group they must stop by to do a side job and off-load some "skrag" to make it up to Barnabas. Kulta reluctantly agrees. Kulta is chosen to be the "door man" (first man in). He realizes it's a setup. He turns to beg for Cassandra's life, knowing they will need to take her out as well. Nicky looks into his eyes as Kulta is on his knees, "she will meet you in paradise my friend" - bang! They shoot him several times and leave him for dead.
Saphira the Seer as a shadow pulls Kulta from his tomb. Kulta is in and out of consciousness filled with nightmares. Through the fog (a theme of "I was blind but now I see"), he hears the children's laughter. One of the girls (the seer) comes to him as an infant and places her hands against his cheeks – darkness befalls him.
5 YEARS LATER: Kulta sits with his navigator, Levi as they hear from Jasper, the leader of the Pirate's Cove Space Station. A rush job has dropped into their laps and it's paying triple the money they should be getting. The challenge is they will need to do the drop in Harpdale. Levi convinces Kulta it's a 1 hour fuel up and back in the sky, no one will even know they were there. Kulta reluctantly agrees, besides another smuggler, Klovis, was to get this job and Kutla needed to get him back for another incident.
While hanging low and out of sight, the young girl, Celine, gets a vision that their way out is near. Her brother, Jonah, risks taking them to town to convince Kulta they need his help to get them off world. Kulta remembers, but ain't having it; that Kulta died long ago. He pushes the kids off, until the Klinkerton's arrive on the scene and find just what they were looking for - the kids. Kulta's hat is low as he shields his face. "Don’t do it..." goes through is mind. A flash of the life the kids would have if the Klinkerton's had their way; contrasted to the way their mother saved him; he makes a stand. The showdown...(see short film); Barnabas may not be there.
What did he just get them into? He knows who he can dump these kids off to. He heads over to Millerton, to meet up with Maggie - a madam running a brothel. Kulta knew Maggie from his former days with the Klinkertons. She was once a prominent lady of Barnabas', now she is just another skrag’er. He realizes she's no good for his purpose, nor is she willing; but she knows who to take them to. Another woman is a "believer of the faith" and stays on Pirate's Cove. She’ll know what to do.
They head back to the Cove and find Sarah of the faithful. She knows of some others and they will be willing to take the kids on. Before Kulta can make the drop, Kulta finds Maggie weeping - she's sold them out and the kids are gone. He gives chase to save the kids from a group of other pirates whom Maggie sold them to. He knows he must now take them on from here on out. He decides to crew up in order to bring them to the other seers and drop them off. It's a long shot now to find the other kids, but Sarah believes she knows the way.
A GF undercover agent hears what is going on through Maggie, when Maggie sees what she's done, she tries to stop him from reporting back, but in that she loses her life. The undercover must report back to command. The GF is now are alerted.
Kulta begins to prep to leave just as the Klinkerton's come on the scene and a shoot-out happens. Klinkerton's interrogate Jasper. "You told me to keep the skrag flowing boss and that's what I've been doing..." As Kulta leaves, a deep dormant GF space probe goes back online.
Sarah leads the crew to another planet, an off-grid planet. A small stronghold is thriving out of the touch of Barnabas and others. They are a group of faithful that are there to protect 3 other young seers. The young seers, do not have the full gift. When the young one Kulta is carrying comes into contact with them, they quickly realize she has a key to a puzzle they were not able to complete. The planet's path known as Canaan is revealed. It's a utopia and complete unknown to the GF and beyond. It is said others seers fled there and it is there they will find the family they've all craved for. The crew is full in and the bond between the kids and Kulta are solidified. Kulta can take them all there now. Kulta is just the warrior they need - he decides to lead them.
They head to the portal to begin the journey of Canaan. Something is messing up the seers and they are unable to guarantee the portal's path. They have bad headaches and dizziness. They must move it along - just then, Klovis shows up, “Thought you’d get away from me hey Kulta…” As if on queue Barnabas and the Klinkerton's show up, far out numbering the small band. Barnabas makes a demand for the kid's. The seers have many powers and Barnaba’s will have his family. Kulta refuses - showdown. They are going to board them. "May-day, may-day", Kulta calls out for any space smuggler to aid him. Barnabas' men see other ships coming online to Kulta's aid - it's time to make a decision.
GF BOOM - shows up and everyone is taken off guard.
Immediately the GF opens up taking out ships, Klovis joins the fight – smugglers they may be, but they have a code - all unite and begin firing on the GF. Barnabas hails Kulta - "you’re their family now son - take care of my kin..." - Kulta takes the coordinates and jumps through the portal, just as Barnabas self-sacrifices himself and goes into the lead frigate destroying the mind blocker as well.
The remaining ships jump through with Kulta.
Just as he comes through - there in the distance, there is Canaan, they have found the Promised Land. They celebrate and head in, just as the camera sees an old GF probe in the area. Is this the end? We'll find out...
