Two sisters who’ve refused to speak to each other for the past twenty years are conned into taking one last family camping trip with their "dying" mother.
SYNOPSIS:
"Stone Mountain" is a Southern dramedy in the vein of "Steel Magnolias", which can also take advantage of the very generous Georgia filming credits and crew availability, should you choose to film there, as the actual Stone Mountain is in the Atlanta suburb are.
When twin sisters ("Fraternal, NOT identical") went their separate ways immediately after high school. each was convinced the other had it better in their family, especially with their now long gone father (gone, not dead). Elaine, ever the wallflower, grew up after that in the School of Hard Knocks of life. Iolla, the high school beauty queen, married a wealthy banker right out of high school and has lived her life in seeming luxury. But both carry their grudge to this day. Twenty years later, when their mother decides to take their reconciliation into her own hands, things have a way of getting out of hand. Allowing her daughters to believe she is gravely ill, she manages to talk the two of them (unbeknownst to each other) into joining her on a camping trip to their favorite family spot. But the ever looming thoughts of their absent father makes their reconciliation seem impossible. Add to that a sinking travel trailer, Elaine's joke shop suitor, Iolla's IRS problems, and their mother's incorrigible need to meddle, and it's a distinct possibility that this mountain could come crumbling down on them all.
