A frustrated minister’s idea to create a TV show called HIGH CHURCH, featuring stoned celebrities telling Bible stories, proves a tough sell, and success might destroy his career.
SYNOPSIS:
Minister Chris Miller is bored with his small parish in Indiana. A joke with his stoner friend Deuce, about getting high and going to church, inspires the idea for a TV show, HIGH CHURCH, in which celebrities will get stoned and tell Bible stories. Chris's wife is the first of many people who can't imagine anyone making such a show. Chris goes to L.A. with Deuce, to pitch a reluctant agent and then a series of producers, each more questionable than the last.
The series will follow their efforts to get a producer, find religious “authorities” in the academic community who can provide credibility, and then seek out celebrities willing to appear on the show. As their efforts gain traction, they will find opposition in the religious community and be forced to consider the values they are both fostering and ridiculing.
