NEW YEAR'S LOBSTER DROP
By David Gray

GENRE: Romance
LOGLINE:

An ambitious New York TV producer goes to Newfoundland to secure the rights to a New Year’s event, only to learn that it doesn’t really exist. With his career on the line, he has to bring the event to life with the help of a remarkable woman who has put her life on hold… until now. (Doc Hollywood meets The Grand Seduction)

SYNOPSIS:

Ron Pierson is sent from New York to secure the rights to broadcast the New Year’s Lobster Drop from the tiny village of Petty Harbor, Newfoundland. Getting there is a challenge but with the help of a local “fixer,” Quinn Kennedy, he manages to arrive just before Christmas. What he doesn’t know, and Quinn is reluctant to tell him, is that there is no such event. It was a story made up by the Mayor to gloss over a night of drunken foolishness that had gotten out of hand. But with Ron dangling the prospect of cash and fame for the tiny town, the Mayor is determined to make the lobster drop a reality.

Ron’s personal life is a mess, his girlfriend having dumped him due to his holiday travels. Quinn returned to Petty Harbor to help her mother run the local inn, abandoning her music studies on the mainland years before. Ron and Quinn inspire each other, but what future can they have with his life in New York and hers in Newfoundland?
