SYNOPSIS:
Twenty-two year old Lilith Lockhart (aka “Stone Fist” Adira Loner) makes quick work of three opponents simultaneously and basks in the glory of a sold out gym before speaking to her trainer/promoter, Tim Rockwell, about wrestling in a main event, to which he replies that she’s almost ready. She’s paid for her work and returns home to her workaholic, emotionally distant father, Dr. Daymean Lockhart. He demands her rent for the month, otherwise ignoring her completely. The next morning, she watches a “Stone Cold” Steve Austin match admiringly before going to work. Loner and Rockwell smoke weed at his home while watching Japanese pro-wrestling. He tells her of a tryout in town for a Tokyo-based promotion called Red Sun Pro-Wrestling, the second biggest company in the world. The promotion is building a dojo and looking for wrestlers to sign. Lucky ones may even perform on the company’s first Pay-Per-View in the United States, “Time Bomb: U.S.A.” At the tryout she meets Katsuyori Suzuki, the dojo’s head trainer and a main star on R.S.P.W. 's roster. He puts her and twenty-nine others through hours of brutal cardio and by the end, half the class has walked out. Those who stay are accepted into the dojo and told to report there by 7:30 Monday morning. On the way home, she stops by her friend/drug dealer’s place (his name’s Pookie) and buys more weed. He offers to sell her a pill of oxycodone to help with her soreness, but she declines before leaving. Her first day of training goes little better than the tryout. While she gets to work in a ring, she’s forced to do only cardio drills, all the while Suzuki berates her in Japanese. She returns to Pookie’s to buy more weed and he convinces her to take a pill home. She swallows it while watching R.S.P.W. in her dad’s living room, during which it’s announced Suzuki’s opponent for the PPV has been injured and will be unable to compete. The pill begins to take effect and she falls asleep before being woken by her dad the following morning. He lashes out for her laziness as she dresses and leaves with haste, having missed her alarm for training. She arrives late and Suzuki forces her to run a hundred laps as punishment. On her way home, Rockwell calls and offers her a semi-main event match against Destina Patrina, a well known star. She agrees and tries to talk her dad into attending her match, but he resists, absolutely detesting pro-wrestling. He’s finally convinced when she offers to pay the next two months’ rent early. At the show, she looks through the curtain for him, but he’s not there. Rockwell introduces her to Patrina who’s visibly arrogant. Patrina asks if Loner wants to bleed in their match, but she refuses, not wanting to enrage her dad. He arrives as the match begins, however, Patrina begins punching her for real, causing her to bleed from the forehead. Backstage, she gets into a shoving match that’s broken up by Rockwell. She wants him to defend her, but he coddles Patrina instead, telling her to calm down and that they’ll talk tomorrow. Her dad throws a fit at home, threatening to kick her out. He only agrees to let her stay when she agrees to quit wrestling, though, the next morning, she sneaks out for class. She tries to talk with Rockwell, though he’s more interested in putting her in match at his next show. The next day at training, one of her colleagues accidentally knocks her off a ring and she twists her ankle. They get in a fight, but Suzuki breaks it up and calls her into his office. There, despite a few attitude problems, he offers her a match against him in the main event of their first U.S. PPV. Before her next match, she gets into an argument with Rockwell over how he’s treating her, remaining distant and not fulfilling his promises of pushing her to the main event. He tells her that he’ll come through and she’ll get what she wants. She storms out and smokes weed in her car, popping pills all the while. By match time, she’s in no condition to perform and Rockwell chews her out in front of everyone. When she arrives, her dad is waiting. He hired a private investigator to follow her and knows what she’s been doing. He tells her to leave, but she refuses, causing him to attack her. She locks herself in a room and swallows a whole bottle of pills, trying to commit suicide before being resusatated by paramedics on the way to the hospital. She’s released the next day, now stabilized, and goes straight to the PPV. She meets with Suzuki who says he’ll call all their moves while they’re in the ring (basically ad libbing on live television). They have their match and Loner wins. He shakes her hand and leaves her to give a heart-felt speech to the crowd. Backstage, they meet in his office where he offers her a full-time contract, giving her time to think it over. She moves into a tiny apartment, now living on her own. At the press conference to commemorate her signing, the company’s president hypes her up and invites her to the podium.. Reporters flash their cameras and the screen cuts to black as the camera closes in on her eyes, still staring at the dotted line.
