I'm Cali from L.A. Author turned FILMMAKER. After publishing several bestselling books, I turned to film in 2014 as I wanted to continue to grow as an artist. Screenwriting was NOT my friend when I first started out and I ditched the first script I attempted to write. However, I completed my first feature length script in April and loved every moment of the process.
In January I launched my own production company, TOWER 15 PRODUCTIONS and currently working on a few projects. One in particular is entitled PEARL which celebrates six extraordinary women who have overcome homelessness to find success in the Arts. (I'm one of them as I experienced a year of homelessness in San Francisco before arriving in L.A. at the end of 2013).
In the film we plan to not only share these incredible stories, but also ways in which we are working towards ENDING homelessness once and for all. We are looking to create a MOVEMENT and would love for all of you to join us.
I'm also in the midst of publishing a new FILM series of books geared towards supporting the aspiring and emerging female filmmaker. The first book, IT'S SIMPLY FILMMAKING came out last year and the second, IT'S SIMPLY SCREENWRITING will debut in January, 2020.
I'm a speaker at several publishing conferences and also the Track Coordinator for the Writing for Hollywood Summit at the 2020 San Francisco Writers Conference. If you are in the SF Bay Area, would love for you to join us in February.
Grateful to Richard "RB" Botto and my Stage32 Family for their guidance and support and happy to support YOU any way I can.
Looks like you have your hands full. But maybe you'd keep my Next Step for Democracy 'movement' in mind as you meet others. Kudos to your efforts!
Interesting background. I, too, am an author turned screenwriter. I'd like to read even more about your projects.
Nice e-meet Cali!
Looking for enthusiastic partners to make a feature that entertains, educates and provokes.
I have written four screenplays about how the Next Step for Democracy will evolve. Professional evaluations are encouraging.
I am looking for two people -- probably a director and a principal actor -- in order to get this done.
Looking for enthusiastic partners to make "All of Us". A feature that entertains, educates and provokes. About what and how the Next Step for Democracy will evolve. I have written four screenplays based on this theme (first ten pages posted). / See 'jobs' though the idea here is collaboration about finances.
Hi David, Jason Mirch might have some ideas for producers that might be interested.
Did sent an invite. Let's talk.
What I need, I think ... is a partner for this project. I realize that is difficult without face-to-face and time. / So ... how do we proceed to consider this?
I use Final Draft and usually don't have problems with formatting. Currently, I am working on a script that takes place basically in one building. I have my main character doing basically a continuous scene through most of the screenplay. So, she's going in and out of rooms and down hallways -- that...

Should I go ahead and do a slug line for each scene.
Can't we all just get along? Geez, I'm sorry I asked.
Darlenne, do you have anything more to add to the topic of this thread? If not, then let’s please move on. No need to pick fights, name call, or belittle other members.
Steven, again, it’s all good! Thank you for posting! Asking questions, discussing topics, sharing insights and information is what the craft and business forums are all about. So please feel free to post. ;)
Awh geeze, it was just getting good too. I like good ol' down & dirty mud wrashallin' contests.
I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Has anyone worked with the software from MoviePlan.net? It's a template for writing an investment memorandum for film.

Expand commentHi Margaret! Congrats on wrapping up those projects. That's cool that you work out of NJ (I was born there), currently living in AZ. I'm always looking to get my scripts out there and I have a single location thriller that could definitely work in many areas of NJ and another that takes place in NY if you or anyone you know is looking for content. Good luck with everything!
