SYNOPSIS:

Raised in the South Bronx, young Alex Mazze sees his dad nodding with a needle in his arm. Then is later bullied by young Cortez, son of the dealer who has his dad strung out. He vows to never end up like his father and to ... ‘do something’, to end the craziness.

Alex Mazze, now grown, enjoys being a beat cop and using his muscular frame to restore order...as demonstrated on a wife-beater who feels the long, strong arm of justice - Alex thumps him with.

Soon Alex is recruited to join the narco division by the Jamaican department head. Alex isn't sure about this move. Agostin, a fellow Puerto Rican, and a kid he grew up with...also a narc officer, sets him straight about it. "It's not for everybody...and it's easy to die. Too easy."

In the meantime we see that young Cortez is grown now and helps his dad run the drug empire. While violently enforcing the laws of the cartel, they get into a shoot out. The dad dies. Cortez is now the kingpin of the operation.

Since his now incarcerated dad, was a heroin addict, he internally has a life-long grudge to settle. Alex visits him in prison and is shunned and pushed away by his dad... Ashamed that he is a cop. It hurts Alex to the core. After more thought...He agrees to join the unit.

Alex is scared to death during his first bust and nearly messes up, but soon starts to get swing of it and out performs veterans. The busts are on dealers that work for Cortezand he puts out a decree that sales only happen if the buyer, uses in front of you.

Now...in some deals, Mazze his life is threatened because he refuses to do the drugs, so the the dealer can see it. He needs a new strategy. To avoid being shot, he uses his creativity and humor to get out of some very life threatening situations.

He decides to mix it up and do things like : use disguises, stink up himself by rolling in a dumpster (to avoid the getting too close) and he even has to devise a plan so he can pretend shooting up (in the testicles of all places. The reaction from those around him during this particular stunt is priceless).

These stories cause his dad to laugh hard and see his son in a new light. The once broken bond, starts to heal and eventually a healthy father/son relationship is restored.

Cortez keeps losing soldiers and he is furious. Puts a 'hit' out on whoever is busting his goons. His squad thinks it might be a guy named, Al.

The story culminates on the 4th of July party at the Cortez estate, after Alex Mazze goes undercover and must do the 'ball blaster' stunt in front of Cortez and crew. When the site is raided, Cortez doesn't go quietly. Shooting at police, Alex finds a way -unarmed - to neutralize his threat and have a taste of revenge.

As the tale unfolds, the true craziness of this war on drugs is revealed. The criminals, though they think they were smart like Capone...are presented as the clowns they truly are - by Alex, whose perspective is by far more interesting. The true insanity of this debilitating episode in American history is presented to us, Tarantino-style, by someone who lived it.
