When an unassuming graduate student realizes her mentor, an esteemed Entomologist, has created a monstrous honeybee hybrid, she must use the knowledge she gained from him to stop him from unleashing the lethal swarm on the world. (COMPS: THE FLY meets FRANKENSTEIN)

SYNOPSIS:

Amanda is a graduate student, working under esteemed Entomologist, Dr. Jake Kearns, at the University of Sacramento's Genome Lab.

Jake, well known as a playboy around campus, is adored and revered by Amanda, who would never dare reveal her feelings for him. Jake, however, is well aware of how Amanda feels and uses this knowledge to his advantage, both in and out of the lab.

Their research focuses on mite and parasite resistant honeybee hybrids in order to stabilize the world's failing bee population, but unbeknownst to Amanda and her fellow student, Caleb, the good doctor's research has turned anything but ethical.

Amanda discovers that while Jake may have started out with a noble goal, his run-ins with local leaders of industrialized farming around their pesticide use have led him to create a swarm of "Frankenbees" that he can command at will with lethal consequences.

When the annual World Bee Day celebration at Halliday Farms turns deadly, with Jake using his Frankenbee swarm to wipe out his enemies, Amanda realizes just what Jake has become. She and Caleb barely escape, but when the hive splits, recognizing Amanda also as a queen, they have a chance to gain the upper hand.

After Caleb is killed by Jake while trying to protect her, Amanda is able to tap into the full force of her power, and the knowledge she gained as Jake's star student, to beat Jake at his own game -- becoming the final Queen Bee along with the responsibility to nature and humanity that title bears.
