In an attempt to atone for his father’s death, a witty fool sets in motion a plan to kill the
murderous king and marry the sovereign princess, but instead unravels his mind during his
quest for revenge.
SYNOPSIS:
The Kingdom of Hell is led by the tyrannical leader King Benedict who hangs anyone who
displeases him. He is looking for a new Fool, after having hanged the last one. The Fool
prepares his audition away from the commotion of the King! fool tryouts, he wants to get
close to the King so he can assassinate him while he sleeps. Living in the present leaves the
Fool! world a gray muck, bland and mundane, he hates his reality. But in his fantasies, he can
escape to a world of vibrant color. When Benedict is about to hang another contestant,the
Fool sees his queue. He throws his dad’s special dagger through an apple on Margery’s
head and wows the audience, and more importantly Benedict, who makes the Fool, his fool.
The Fool gloats over his recent victory and in the process leaves his father’s dagger in the
middle of the woods. When he notices it is missing, he panics and runs into the woods to find
it, he is hysterical. He wakes up in the forest and fantasizes about dancing with Margery until
he’s called out by an orphan girl. In his anger, he grabs the orphan and attempts to drown
her. She tells him it’s at the church. The fool’s temper reemerges and he accidentallystabs
the priest. The Fool heads back to the castle, losing his mind.
The Fool is in shock and becomes so overwhelmed in his mind that he tries to kiss Margery,
Benedict’s daughter. She doesn’t respond well, The next day, the court is filled for a hanging,
and Nicholas, the Fool’s best friend, is hanged. The Fool relives the imageover and over in
his mind. Until his descent into madness becomes a blame fest. He blames Sarah, a woman
who loves him, for Nicholas ’death, and throws her down the stairs. He prepares his
performance, to kill Benedict, nothing can stop him now.
His mind is not put together for his final performance and in his rushing of Benedict’s
Assassination, he doesn’t notice Margery in the way of his aim, and he kills her. After killing
those he loved, he goes out to the woods and hangs himself, without any control over his
mind.
